Do You Know About These Brutal RAPE Cases In Indian History That Shocked The Entire Nation.

t's unfortunate that we're writing this article. It's shameful that the history of India is overflowing with records of such RAPE cases. It's saddening, that yet it hasn't come to an end and we are not even close to the full-stop mark. RAPE cases were initially low. In 90's when a RAPE case used to make it to the headlines it grabbed all the necessary attention and provoked people to think, act and be alert. Recently, there has been a stiff rise in numbers of RAPE cases and our sensibility towards such news has drastically fallen which is quite of a natural human tendency. 


Well, let's remind few of many daughters of India who have met the frightful fate of being brutally RAPED and question ourselves where are we really heading?


PIPILI RAPE CASE, 2011

It took place in Arjungoda village of pipili, Puri district, Odisha. On 29 November 2011 the 19 YO Dalit victim was found in half dead and nude condition from a place near her house. When her family went to file a complaint of RAPE, the local police refused to do so because of involvement of an influencial politician in the case.She had also undergone faulty treatment and doctors said that a poisonous snake had bitten her. After the involvement of State Human Rights commission her case was filed and High Court's interference gave get appropriate treatment in a Government hospital free of cost. However, in June, 2012 she passed away of ARDS, Septicaemia and cardiac arrest.Her family was given a compensation of 10 lakh rupees and the charge of investigation was transferred to CBI. Eight people were convicted under IPC section 307 out of which two were charged with section 302 of IPC for attempt to murder and eventually death of the victim.


NIRBHAYA Verdict, Delhi, Dec.16, 2012

It is one the most horrific RAPE cases of India wherein a physiotherapy intern named Jyoti Singh Pandey (whom India calls 'Nirbhaya' because of her bravery) was GANG-RAPED by six people, beaten and assaulted brutally with an iron rod in a running bus while traveling with her male friend who was also assaulted. Following morning she and her friend were found lying on roads injured and bleeding. She was rushed to hospital and 11 days later transferred to a hospital in Singapore for better treatment but eventually succumbed to the injuries. She had fought for her honor till the last breath and had struggled to give statements and seek Justice. All six of the culprits were arrested. The driver, Ram Singh had committed suicide during trials and the juvenile Mohammed Afroz was released after serving penalty period of three years in a juvenile home, which made whole nation question the juvenile law. The rest four, Mukesh Singh,Vinay Sharma,Pawan Gupta and Akshay Thakur were sentenced to death by law on 5th May 2017.


Aruna Shanbaug case, Mumbai

This is probably the most heartbreaking incidence of RAPE. In 1973, while working as a junior nurse at King Edward Memorial Hospital, Parel, Mumbai, Shanbaug was SEXUALLY ASSAULTED by a ward boy, Sohanlal Bhartha Walmiki, and remained in a vegetative state following the assault. She remained in such state for 42 years. Pinki Virani pleaded the Supreme Court to allow her passive euthanasia and release her from a life worse than death. However, it wasn't granted and she finally passed away of pneumonia on 18 May 2015. Reports say, On the night of 27 November 1973, Shanbaug was SEXUALLY ASSAULTED by Sohanlal Bhartha Walmiki, a sweeper on contract at the King Edward Memorial Hospital. Sohanlal attacked her while she was changing clothes in the hospital basement. He choked her with a dog chain and sodomized her. The asphyxiation cut off oxygen to her brain, resulting in brain stem contusion injury, cervical cord injury, and cortical blindness. She was discovered with blood splattered around her at 7:45 am the next morning by a cleaner.The police case was registered as a case of robbery and attempted murder because of the concealment of anal RAPE by the doctors under the instructions of the Dean of KEM, Dr. Deshpande.


Bhanwari Devi GANG-RAPE in Rajasthan.

Bhanwari Devi was grassroots level worker in Bhateri village under the Women’s Development Project in Rajasthan. She was targeted by higher caste men when she spoke against an obvious social malacy, child marriage. She was GANG-RAPED by 5 men from upper caste in 1992. This questions the blooming of WOMEN'S rights under the burden of patriarchy in India.Imrana RAPED by her own father-in-law. Dating back to 2005 this case showed how hostile is our society towards men even when they're culprits. Imrana was RAPED repeatedly by her own father-in-law but when she spoke of it, some so-called headmen called it adultery instead of RAPE. She was even told to leave her husband and make peace with the fact that she is married to her father-in-law instead. Ridiculous? But true! However, the lady didn't quiet and kept her battle up till the culprit was put behind the bars for 10 whole years.


If we start enlisting all cases we would probably lose grip of our counting. Didn't these cases fill you with aghast and anger, just like the current kathua RAPE case? But what can we do? Let's get on streets with candles in hands, post angry comments on social media and wait for scenario to change!!! Do you have other suggestions?

Teacher in Sambhal arrested for SEXUALLY MOLESTING student in school.

UTTAR-PRADESH, A case of SEXUAL MOLESTATION of an 11- year old by a primary school teacher in Sambhal has emerged.The incident took place in Thana Rajpura area of Sambhal district. It is alleged that the student of class 4 was called by the accused teacher Kailash Chandra, in the pretext of feeding sweets in his office. He then began touching her inappropriately. The little GIRL started yelling because of which the teacher had to let go of her.The GIRL went home and narrated the entire incident to her parents. The family filed a complaint against the accused teacher, who was later arrested by the police. It is need of the hour to teach minor GIRLS about good touch and bad touch.
