IIT Kanpur girl students molested, institute lodges FIR

Two girl students of IIT Kanpur have been molested.
The institute administration identified the molester and got an FIR registered against him with the Kalyanpur police.

The incident dates back to September 17 but it came to light after it went viral on social media on Monday. The FIR had been lodged during the late night hours on the same day.
IIT Kanpur administration on Tuesday issued a clarification in this case. The institute authorities said that based on the report by the Security Office of IITK, a youth, posing as an IITK student, passed lewd comments on the two girls. The girl students strongly objected to the molestation and reported the matter to the institute authorities.
Institute said that this incident had happened at around 5 pm on September 17, immediately after which the perpetrator was apprehended by male students and security guards of the institute. "The culprit was taken to the Security Section where he repeatedly refused to comply with requests for ID check. Subsequently, the culprit was then handed over to the police outpost Incharge in IITK", said Deputy director, IIT Kanpur, Prof Manindra Agarwal.
"On the instructions of Institute Administration and senior police officials, the Duty Assistant Security Officer, Chairman, Security Advisory Executive Committee, the Security Officer and students went to Kalyanpur Police Station for recording their statement and lodging of FIR. The entire process was concluded by the late night hours on the same day", informed Prof Agarwal.
The girl students voluntarily assisted the police investigation into the matter and their statement was recorded by female police officers. The students were then taken back to their hostel by the Security Officer. "An FIR has been filed in this case against the youth and an investigation into the matter is ongoing. The youth does not belong to IITKanpur and is a native of some area in vicinity of IITKanpur", Deputy director said while talking to TOI.
"The two girl students are to be commended for stepping forward to lodge an FIR despite pressure exerted from friends of the perpetrator. The institute security did its job diligently and has been instructed to act strictly against any criminal activity on campus," said Deputy Director, IIT Kanpur.

Teacher in Sambhal arrested for SEXUALLY MOLESTING student in school.
